My first foray into survival horror games and RE specifically was with the RE2 remake. It definitely stoked a fire in me and now I'm more open to playing horror games. Village looks absolutely bonkers and terrifying and fun, and I'm looking forward to playing it at some point.

On a side note, I recently watched a video essay that discussed how the RE films impacted the games, implying that the action-orientated films (which were successful, if not great) impacted the design and ton shift in RE4 & 5. It's interesting to think about how different mediums within a franchise can influence one another.
